Wills Transfer Limited hosted their first Logistics Symposium on October 16th, 2018 at the Baldachin Inn in Merrickville, ON. It was a huge success!
As a 3PL Leader in Eastern Ontario, Wills Transfer provided a morning Symposium to offer insight, tools and take aways for managing pieces of the supply chain for those that attended.
There were 4 speakers:
Kelly McKinnon (plant Manager, Shell Canada Brockville) – breakthrough strategies in supply chain
Tyler Willoughby (KPI Specialist, Wills Transfer) – measuring success in the supply chain
Matt Sly (Logistics Manager, Tweed) – building a DC to fit your business
Terry Wills (President, Wills Transfer) – People matter
The sessions lasted the morning which included team networking, brainstorming ideas, and insights from other companies.
The main take away for most guests that attended, was to improve the culture of their business; remind their employees the values and purpose of what they are doing. Implementing KPIs was another large take-away for many. Comment cards were distributed at the end of the morning where each guest had the opportunity to reflect on the sessions, and what they could take away from the event back to their business. The below are reflections on what challenged them when listening to the different speakers.
“Trying to impose a more people matters in the workplace” – Canarm LTD
“Determine appropriate KIP’s to measure for customer specific development” – KWE Canada
“Learning to collect data & track, distribution ideas, people matter” – Northern Micro
“To reflect more frequently on the culture I want to create at work; always tie that back to my home and work values” – Shell Canada
The morning concluded with a fabulous lunch catered by the Baldachin Inn, and dessert from Merrickville’s Nana B’s.
Employees of Wills Transfer from each branch attended in support and to network and meet the guests from other companies.
“I was fortunate to attend the recent Logistics Symposium hosted by Wills Transfer. A vast cross section of businesses from the area were represented in the audience. The guest speakers each provided an informative presentation on relevant topics to the
group and current business environment. Discussions followed the presentations and during the luncheon. It was a valuable event for those who attended and many contacts were established. I enjoyed the opportunity to participate as a Wills team member.” –
